Jamie Hulit is one of the many animal advocates in Texas who volunteers for different shelters and rescue centers. She is also a willing foster mom to the rescue animals who are in need of a temporary home.
Thanks to her, the life of a dog who was born with a facial deformity has changed for the better.
Beaux Tox was born at a puppy mill, but because of his deformity, he was marked as unsellable. The owners of the breeding farm gave him away, and he was passed on from one owner to the other.
He was then called Lucky, but his life was far from that. He was unloved, maltreated, and neglected by his past owners.
His last owners, who left him tied to a tree for days, needed to move and decided to leave the dog behind. So they reached out to a local shelter who said yes to caring for the pooch.
When he was about to be groomed, one of the volunteers of the shelter decided to take photos and post them on social media. Thankfully, Jamie saw the post and instantly fell in love.
She contacted them immediately and decided not to foster him but to adopt him and give him a forever home!
Unfortunately, Lucky was in pretty bad shape. For starters, he was infested with fleas due to his life spent outdoors. He was underweight and was diagnosed with heartworm. Aside from that, he needed to be neutered and chipped. Adopting him would mean so much work, but Jamie didn’t mind one bit.
After making arrangements to transport the pooch, Lucky is finally home where he belongs.
True enough, Lucky, now Beaux Tox, needed so much medical attention. “He almost didn’t make it. He was in the oxygen tank for a week,” said Jamie in an interview with iHeartDogs. The pooch was skin and bones and had a really bad case of heartworm infection.
A year has passed, and Beaux Tox is as healthy and happy as ever! He’s always smiling and wagging his tail, and you can tell that he is living a happy life with Jamie and the rest of the family.
He still loves spending time outdoors—thankfully, Jamie has a ranch—but he is more than welcome to spend time with everyone indoors.
Jamie shares that the adorable pooch loves swimming so that he would be seen most of the time around the deck and by the pool.
Beaux may have a deformed face, but it never stopped him from being such an amazing and beautiful dog with so much love to give.
Jamie is so happy to have Beaux in her life.
